Community guide forLOCKDOWN Protocol

This is a community-contributed setup guide. RiceMod officially ships a Windows launcher; on Linux you run it through Proton withSteamTinkerLaunch.

Make sure you have a legitimate copy of LOCKDOWN Protocol purchased from Steam before you begin.

Setup

  1. Install ProtonUp-Qt

    Download ProtonUp-Qt from your preferred method (for example Flatpak or your distro package manager).

  2. Install SteamTinkerLaunch

    Open ProtonUp-Qt and click Add version. Under Compatibility tool, open the drop-down and selectSteamTinkerLaunch, then click Install.

  3. Restart Steam

    Fully quit Steam (Steam menu → Exit), then reopen it and go to Library.

  4. Enable SteamTinkerLaunch for the game

    Right-click LOCKDOWN Protocol → Properties… → Compatibility. EnableForce the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, then select Steam Tinker Launch in the drop-down.

  5. Download RiceLauncher

    Grab the latest launcher from ricemod.com and extract it into a folder.

  6. Open SteamTinkerLaunch

    Launch LOCKDOWN Protocol. When SteamTinkerLaunch opens, select MAIN MENU.

  7. Configure the custom command

    In the bottom-right, select GAME MENU. Enable both Use custom command and Fork custom command.

    Under Use custom command, click the empty Custom command field and browse to the extractedRiceLauncher.exe.

  8. Pick a Proton version

    Scroll to Proton options → Proton version. Proton-GE Latest works well; use whichever Proton build runs reliably for you.

  9. Save and play

    Click SAVE or SAVE AND PLAY.

    Once RiceMod is loaded, press Tab in-game to open the overlay.

Troubleshooting

If the launcher fails after an update, try downloading it again fromricemod.com. This can happen when the game is on an external drive and Steam or RiceMod lacks write permissions outside the main drive.
